Circles

A European study using global positioning software recently concluded that people who try to walk a straight line find themselves going in circles. Interesting…kind of. I guess people really do walk in circles. This is so relieving because I thought it was just me! I’m not sure about the walking thing - but driving can be a struggle. I’m not bad with directions, but I could definitely benefit from a Garmin, Navigon, Magellan, Mio, or TomTom navigational system (Apparently those are the top 5. Wouldn’t know. But the Magellan Maestro 4370 looks hot.). I’m kind of a “turn right or left” guy. I’ve never been good with the whole “go north or south”. Not sure why. It probably has something to do with my childhood (mom?). In one test, six students were taken to a large forest and told to “walk the line” (thank you Johnny Cash). Four of them walked under a cloudy sky and couldn’t see the sun. Can you say, “circles, small circles”? That’s what they all ended up doing. This study found that people tended to go in circles or veer from a straight line if there was nothing to guide their way. Nothing beats a guide. It points. It gives confidence. It keeps you on the right road. How interesting is it that God tells us, “trust Me from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for My voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; I’m the one who will keep you on track.” Goodbye circles. Goodbye Magellan. I’ve got a guarantee. It points. It gives confidence. It keeps me on the right road.
