the middle years

Parenting in the middle years when our kids are 13-17 years of age…WOW. That’s a challenge. It’s challenging because families rapidly change. Rapidly changing families are in need of someone who can paint a hopeful future. My wife and I have two kids the middle years, and here’s what we’re discovering as we walk through this unique time:

> New parenting strategies are needed. You must grow as a parent and develop new skills. Parent on purpose.
> Kids in the middle years like a little space but realistically can’t handle a total absence of parental boundaries. Maintain consistent boundaries.
> Parents are needed but not necessarily asked for during this stage. Be involved.

And along the way…laugh! It helps.
